Dental Implants

A natural-looking, lasting solution to restore missing teeth and confidence

Restoring smiles through precision prosthodontics

Dental implants are widely recognised as one of the most effective ways to replace missing teeth, but the true success of implant treatment lies in the design and restoration of the final teeth.

At Wimpole Street Dental Care, we plan the surgical placement and prosthetic restoration of your implants. We then continue to carefully plan, design, and restore implants so that they look natural, function comfortably, integrate beautifully with your smile, and are easy to maintain and keep clean.

Prosthodontics is the specialised area of dentistry dedicated to restoring and replacing teeth. This includes the design and placement of crowns, bridges and implant-supported restorations that rebuild both the function and aesthetics of the smile.

Restorative-led implant planning

At Wimpole Street Dental Care, we take a restorative-led approach, meaning we plan the final teeth first and use this as the blueprint for every stage of treatment.

This process allows us to carefully consider the shape, position and aesthetics of the final restoration before the implant is placed. By planning in this way, we can ensure the implant is positioned to support a crown, bridge or denture that looks natural, functions comfortably and blends harmoniously with your existing teeth.

Our clinicians use detailed assessments, digital imaging and careful treatment planning to design implant-supported restorations that restore both the appearance and function of your smile while supporting long-term oral health.

Dental Implants FAQs

Dental implants are a long-term solution for replacing missing teeth. A small titanium post is carefully placed into the jawbone, where it acts as an artificial tooth root. Once healed, it supports a custom-made crown, bridge or denture, restoring both the function and appearance of your smile.

Dental implants are widely considered one of the most effective and natural-feeling ways to replace missing teeth. Unlike removable dentures, implants are fixed securely in place and allow you to eat, speak and smile with confidence.

With good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups, dental implants can last many years and often decades. They’re designed to be a durable, long-term solution for missing teeth.

Implant placement is carried out under local anaesthetic, so the procedure itself is comfortable. Most patients describe the recovery as similar to having a tooth extraction, with mild soreness for a few days that can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.

The full dental implant process can take several months. After the implant is placed, the jawbone needs time to heal and integrate with the implant before the final restoration is fitted. Your dentist will guide you through each stage and provide a clear timeline during your consultation.

Most healthy adults with missing teeth are able to have dental implants. Having sufficient bone in the jaw and good overall oral health are important factors. If necessary, treatments such as bone grafting might be recommended to prepare the area for implant placement.

Yes. Dental implants can replace a single tooth, several teeth or even support a full arch of replacement teeth. Depending on your needs, implants can be used to secure crowns, bridges or implant-supported dentures.

Dental implants should be cared for in the same way as natural teeth. Regular brushing, flossing and routine dental check-ups will help keep both the implant and surrounding gum tissue healthy.

Dental implants are fixed in place and do not move when eating or speaking. They also help preserve the jawbone and facial structure, which can change over time with missing teeth or removable dentures.
